As a young girl growing up in Texas, Dr. Stacy Mitchell Doyle (or “Dr. Stacy as her patients call her), knew what was to be her calling… star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. That plan failed to materialize, but what did develop in its place was a love of science and a deep-seated passion to help people live the most healthy and meaningful life possible. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Howard University and her MD from the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine, Dr. Stacy completed residency training at UCLA and Board Certification in Internal Medicine. From there she opened her own private medical practice in Los Angeles. But after 18 years in medical practice, Dr. Stacy realized that she was a part of a broken medical system. Her patients were on ever increasing amounts of pharmaceuticals, but the cycle of worsening health and chronic disease was not substantially altered.

Over 90% of chronic disease is due to poor nutrition, and with that in mind, Dr. Stacy created FoodTherapyMD, a wellness consulting firm and online health information and resource center that uses evidence-based nutritional medicine in order to provide people with plant-based alternatives to combat and prevent chronic disease, as well as maintain true health and longevity. https://foodtherapymd.com

Dr. Stacy has always seen medicine and health as a form of social justice. She believes it’s more difficult for people to effect change in their communities when also struggling with illness, disability and sub-optimal health. And she firmly believes that ultimately, the healthy, vibrant life that can be achieved through superior plant-centric nutrition should be available to EVERYONE, and what is good for the body, is also good for the planet.

When she’s not tending to patients, traveling the country on speaking engagements, writing, consulting, or teaching inner city kids science and reading skills, Dr. Stacy can be found on the mat doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or relaxing with her husband, daughter, and rescue dog Princess Leah.
